Promise Rings
A promise is forever and should never be broken. A promise ring is a symbol of a promise made between two people, a subtle reminder of words spoken or a task in need of completion.
They are given for many reasons, including a pre-engagement, when the couple is interested in each other but needs to wait more time. A promise ring serves as a reminder of chastity and purity, abstaining from vices and as a promise of monogamy and a symbol of friendship. They are best for sealing a pact, making a commitment and creating a bond between people.
People usually wear the rings on the left ring finger. As a general rule, promise rings for men are plain and simple without a gemstone or, if desired, a small stone. On the other hand, the rings for women are elaborate affairs, with gemstones like diamonds, rubies, and sapphires adorning gold. The Turkish variation on these rings is special puzzles with unique solutions or methods of assembly.
