Channel Rings
Channel rings feature three or more gemstones in a channel array. The central piece can be a larger, brilliant stone while the other smaller gems that surround the larger stone complement it. The line of stones in a channel ring creates a dazzling effect that makes an enchanting ribbon around the finger.
The channel setting is used for a variety of rings such as wedding rings, casual everyday rings, costume rings, promise rings, and in rings given as gifts for special occasions.
Jewelers mount the stones side by side in a channel with no metal between the stones. They then fold the metal edges to grasp the stones firmly. With the girdle of the stones protected, the jeweler then engraves the metal.
The metal used to create channel rings can be 14 or 18-karat gold, silver, platinum, or other precious metals. Many Celtic symbols which give the simple channel ring a stunning, traditional look.
