GIA Appraisals

Established in 1931, the Gemological Institute of America (GIA) is the world’s largest and most respected nonprofit institute of gemological research and learning. The GIA fosters a blend of integrity, academics and professionalism to provide extraordinary service.

The primary role of the GIA is to set standards for diamond grading and gemological identification, thus providing the international gem and jewelry industry with benchmark credentialing guidelines. This role also raises public trust in the quality of diamonds they purchase

The GIA is the progenitor of the famous 4 Cs classification method, used to measure the cut, carat, color and clarity of diamonds and other precious gems. The GIA is also responsible for introducing the International Diamond Grading System – a program critical in determining the consistent and proper grading of a diamond.

Additionally, their current D-Z color-grading and Flawless–I3 clarity-grading scales are the most preferred, recognized grading systems among professional jewelers and savvy diamond buyers worldwide. A credential supreme enough to garner a GIA appraisal report is a must for every jewel owner. A GIA appraisal document, signed by the most respected experts in the industry, will reveal the exact characteristics of any diamond you may possess.
