Claddagh Rings

The Claddagh is basically a ring design of a heart held between two hands with a crown set on the top. Its classic representation of love, friendship and fidelity is evident in the design. The Claddagh has been the traditional wedding ring of the Irish since the 17th Century.

The Claddagh ring is wearable in three different ways and symbolizes the state of one’s romantic life. Worn with the heart facing outward on the right hand, it means that one is free for courtship. Worn with the heart facing inward on the right hand, it means that the one is in love. Worn on the left hand, it symbolizes marital bliss. There are three types of Claddagh rings.

The Claddagh ring with a stone design incorporates a diamond, emerald, or ruby in the middle of the heart. The heart stone Claddagh ring is actually a large heart-shaped gemstone like a blue topaz or amethyst, as well as synthetic gemstones like a synthetic emerald. The pearl heart Claddagh has a pearl embedded in the heart of the ring, depicting the serene, mystical quality of the sea.
