The method you choose to store your jewelry can have a great impact on how long your jewelry lasts and the condition it stays in. 1. Pieces of jewelry which contain stones should be stored in a separate drawer than other pieces of jewelry which do not. Likewise, each piece of jewelry containing a stone should be stored in a separate compartment of each drawer to ensure the stones do not scratch each other.

5. When choosing a jewelry box, opt for styles which have softer edges. Wood is a better choice than metal because metal styles with harder edges can potentially damage your jewelry. You may find metal jewelry boxes leave scratches and dents in your jewelry. Make sure the inside is padded and lined so your jewelry is resting in a cushioned area, free of abrasive or hard surfaces.
